I wanted to touch base and let you know that there is a new DIY/Maker group forming in Fairfield County.
Similar to the NYC Resistor group in NYC (http://www.nycresistor.com/) , we are dedicated to harnessing the power of Open Source software and hardware platforms to create things that serve our fellow man. The greatest part of our group is that we all share what we learn - and act as a information resource for eachother. This provides fantastic learning opportunities for our members because we have such diverse skillsets.
Some of our members are into:
A. Open source hardware development (www.arduino.cc)
B. iPhone/Android development
C. Open source software (LAMP)
Our group will not be in competition with SCOSUG in any way. While we do really enjoy Open Source software, we like it most when it interfaces with hardware systems we design and build.
If any of you have any interest in this, don’t hesitate to e-mail me. We could arrange to meet anywhere in Connecticut. We’d be happy to hold a class on soldering your first arduino board.
