Not surprising, considering the budget issues everyone is having. The licensing for an enterprise anti-spam solution alone is enough reason to hand over student e-mail to a 3rd party. I still don’t like the idea of outsourcing student e-mail, but most universities don’t have too much of a choice any more.
According to a source, no one was supposed to know about this YET. The information was leaked by someone in student computing. To what purpose, I can’t guess.
